Delivery: The Master of International Hotel Management (Swiss Hotel Association) - MIHM (SHA) is a full-time course delivered face-to-face; domestic students are able to take the course part-time.
Credit Transfers: Graduates from hotel schools, or business/hospitality related qualifications/degrees, are encouraged to apply for credit transfers/advanced standing. Applicants seeking this should ensure that they supply all relevant documentation and evidence. Visit the credit transfer/advanced standing page for more information. 
Tuition Fees: A$3,750 per subject (graduates from other universities or hospitality/business related institutions may receive credit transfers reducing the overall cost. Applicants are encouraged to take this into consideration when calculating their tuition fees for this program). See the FEES 2019 page for other considerations including accommodation.  

The Master of International Hotel Management (Swiss Hotel Association) - MIHM (SHA) is a two year (four semester) full-time course designed to provide participants with the opportunity to develop advanced knowledge and cognitive skills to understand and manage international hotel operations at a senior level, providing leadership in decision making processes and managing change. Whilst the course focus is on international hotels, participants could choose to undertake their career paths in other areas of the international tourism and hospitality industry. 

The course comprises nine core subjects and three electives delivered over eighteen months; plus a final Professional Practice and Research semester of six months in industry is available and extends the course to a two-year duration. The Graduate Certificate in International Hotel Management and the Graduate Diploma in International Hotel Management are embedded within the two-year MIHM SHA.

Graduate Certificate in International Hotel Management:

The Graduate Certificate In International Hotel Management is comprised of four subjects; two of which focus on two major operational areas - the Food & Beverage and Accommodation Departments. These subjects allow students to develop the skills and knowledge to manage these areas and the resulting guest experience. The later two, introduce the interdisciplinary nature of hotel management; through the study of Hospitality Management Accounting and Marketing. Providing students with an understanding of key financial indicators leading to the profitability of an international hospitality business; and an insight into the factors contributing the models of consumer behaviour that from the service and product expectations from international hotel guests. 

The Graduate Certificate in International Hotel Management course is designed to provide opportunities for participants to develop and enhance knowledge, skills and understanding to undertake lower management level positions in international hotels. Whilst the course focus is on international hotels, it also equips participants with knowledge and skills to undertake career paths in other areas of the international tourism and hospitality industry.

This six-month course is embedded within the twelve-month Graduate Diploma in International Hotel Management. The twelve-month Graduate Diploma is nested within the two-year Master of International Hotel Management. 

The course is comprised of 4 core subjects. Domestic students can undertake the course part-time.

Graduate Diploma in International Hotel Management:
 

Following on from the four core subjects in the Graduate Certificate; the Graduate Diploma In International Hotel Management is comprised of three core subjects plus one elective. 

Building on the foundation from Semester 1; students critically evaluate the role of revenue management and strategic pricing in overall hotel business performance. They also examine and connect fundamental human resource management tools, linking them to the businesses strategy and workforce design requirements. Students will also be required to consider long term strategic decision processes and strategy formulation, and how it applies to businesses in an international context.

The Graduate Diploma in International Hotel Management is is designed to provide opportunities for participants to develop advanced knowledge, skills and understanding to undertake lower to middle level management positions in international hotels. Whilst the course focus in on international hotels, it also equips participants with knowledge and skills to undertake their career paths in other areas of the international tourism and hospitality industry. Domestic students can undertake the course part-time.

The six-month Graduate Certificate in International Hotel Management contributes 4 of the core subjects and is embedded within the twelve-month Graduate Diploma in International Hotel Management. The twelve-month Graduate Diploma is nested within the two-year Master of International Hotel Management. 

Students that have completed the Graduate Certificate in International Hotel Management or equivalent will select three core, and one elective subject from those listed below.

Master of International Hotel Management (Swiss Hotel Association):

Building on Semester 1 and Semester 2, Semester 3 - the Master of International Hotel Management (Swiss Hotel Association) extends the students learning to a Masters level with a focus on leadership and change and global business contexts. Students will be required to interpret the challenges of balancing global, political, workforce, technological and financial considerations along with personal needs in the pursuit of effective, contemporary and ethical change leadership.  They will also investigate and gain a technical knowledge of the critical forces driving change within a global environment; synthesising this knowledge into innovative solutions to complex scenarios, particularly within multinational company structures. 

The Master of International Hotel Management is designed to provide participants with the opportunity to develop advanced knowledge and cognitive skills to understand and manage international hotel operations at a senior level, providing leadership in decision making processes and managing change. Whilst the course focus is on international hotels, participants could choose to undertake their career paths in other areas of the international tourism and hospitality industry. Domestic students can undertake the course part-time.

The Graduate Certificate in International Hotel management and the Graduate Diploma in International Hotel Management are embedded within the two-year Master of International Hotel Management.

MIHM401 - Master of International Hotel Management (Swiss Hotel Association): Professional Practice & Research

This Professional Practice and Research capstone subject will enable the student to integrate theory with the practice of work to develop their knowledge, skills and professional networks through lived experience in a natural workplace setting. Research methods and their application in a business environment will be delivered through workshops in the semester prior to the Professional Practice and Research semester.  

The subject will allow students to develop an understanding of and apply research methods in the work place; students must provide evidence of the completion of a minimum of 600 hours of work.

Students undertaking the Professional Practice and Research semester in industry, will be assisted by the ICHM Industry and Career Development team in finding a suitable property.  

This subject also contains research workshops which provide the opportunity for students to develop an understanding of the main concepts and principles encountered in research methodology and how they can be applied to the workplace setting providing management information.
