What Can I Study?

Study Abroad

The ICHM Study Abroad Program is for those students already studying at another institution or university, who are looking for an overseas experience to complement their studies in their home country.

It is an opportunity to enhance the value of your degree, while at the same time develop new skills and experiences beyond your  familiar environment. Study Abroad programs allow you to experience different cultures, systems and methodologies; and they can actually help to increase your future employment opportunities.

What Do You Study?

With the Study Abroad Program, ICHM invites students from all around the world to study with them in Adelaide using one of three options.

Option one allows students to complete six months of on campus academic study, to be followed by a six month paid work placement in an Australian hotel or related hospitality organisation. Option two allows students to study at ICHM for six months and then return home. Option three allows students to stay on campus for a twelve month study period before returning home.

Together with your own university or hotel school you must choose a minimum of 4 subjects, up to a maximum of 8 subjects, that may be credited by them when you return home. While studying on the ICHM campus Study Abroad students are permitted to wear the uniform of their current institution.

Industry Placements

As part of your Study Abroad program ICHM can assist you in arranging a six month work placement at a hotel in Australia. Most placements in Australia are paid with students earning between A$12,000 - A$18,000 per six month placement, meaning that work placements can be cash-flow positive. For additional details of location, positions, wages see the Industry Placement page.

Study Abroad Tuition Fees

All students on the Study Abroad program pay a once off New Student Fee - $1600.

Tuition fees are calculated by the number of subjects studied. Subject costs in 2018 are fixed at A$3,100 per subject. So your tuition fees will depend on the number of subjects you choose; for example the six month academic fee for studying four subjects on the campus will be A$12,400. If you want to study additional subjects, you pay the per subject cost for each one undertaken.
