Scholarships 2018

Students from Australia and New Zealand are eligible to compete for one of five scholarships ICHM awards each year, and the rigorous selection process includes a written assignment and panel interview.

Twenty-five students applied in 2017, with the option to take up their studies in Semester 1 or Semester 2 in 2018. Of the five winners, one student started in Semester 1 (January) and four will start in Semester 2 (July).

Similar to many scholarship winners over the years, Kiwi Aimee Taylor came to ICHM during Career Week to get a taste of what ICHM has to offer.

‘As I was born in Melbourne I have always felt a deep connection with Australia and have wanted to come back to live. When I was researching hospitality courses, I was excited to find ICHM was situated close to where my family lives and I knew straight away that this was the place for me.

‘Career Week in September 2016 further confirmed my interest in the hospitality industry, and I was very impressed with the facilities and courses available.’

Aimee is a past student of St Margaret’s College, Christchurch.

Other winners in 2018 were Amy Bunder (Loreto College, Marryatville), Millie Hopton (St John’s Grammar School, Belair) and Claire Ahrens (Concordia College, Highgate) from South Australia; and Laura Stiller (Concordia College, Toowoomba) from Queensland.

Since it was established in 1993, ICHM has awarded scholarships worth in excess of $2.5 million. In 2018, the five scholarships were worth in excess of $125,000.
