Master of Ceremonies, Director Student and Industry Engagement, Derek Milligan, welcomed guests to a packed ballroom at the Hilton International Adelaide on 9 September.
Chief Executive Gerald Lipman’s welcome address was followed by the graduate address by Vice-Chancellor and President of Charles Darwin University, Professor Simon Maddocks.
In his address Professor Maddocks spoke to graduands about the unpredictability of life and the importance of being adaptable to change.
‘Graduands, you made a choice when you enrolled at ICHM to do something for yourself, something that might help you go forward in your career, something that might change your life, and to borrow a catchphrase, to do something that would Change Your World. This evening we join you to celebrate wonderful achievements and the excitement of dreams realised, and to acknowledge enormous expectations and new dreams to be conceived as you now anticipate what lies ahead for you.’
In his closing remarks, Professor Maddocks congratulated graduands on everything they had accomplished and extended his sincere best wishes.
‘Take a moment to feel proud of who you are, and what you have achieved—and then take a moment to thank those that helped you get there—friends, family, mentors and even lecturers!’
Led by Principal Dr Ian Whyte, the robed graduands entered to rousing applause, before being presented with the Bachelor of Business (Hospitality Management) and Bachelor of International Hotel Management (Swiss Hotel Association).
Dux of the Year (highest grade point average in a semester) went to:
