Students Name ICHM Australia’s Top Hotel School for Second Consecutive Year

Even in times of such uncertainty, there are still positive and good news stories that show that the hotel and hospitality industry will be ready to move forward as we all work through this pandemic.

So it is heartening that the Adelaide-based International College of Hotel Management (ICHM) has been named the best hotel and hospitality school in Australia for the second consecutive year.

This is the finding of the leading national Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT) Student Experience Survey (SES), which is funded by the Australian Government.

ICHM exceeds all other hotel schools when it comes to the quality of the overall educational experience. In the five main aspects upon which the SES is based, ICHM scored higher than last year and outperformed every other hotel school in Australia - except in one area.

ICHM’s Chief Executive, Natalie Simmons says. ‘I am thrilled but not surprised by the lift in ICHM’s QILT results.

‘The survey shows that ICHM has not only upped its scores from last year, but also maintained its number one position among hotel schools in Australia. The results are all the more stunning when measured against the entire sector - government and private’, she says.

All 41 Australian universities and 68 Non-University Higher Education Institutions (NUHEIS) participated in the 2019 national survey.

ICHM came in at 18th for overall quality across all 109 providers.

ICHM’s results:
Learner Engagement - 80.6% (ranking: 8th)
Skills Development - 90.4% (ranking: 14th)
Student Support - 88.7% (ranking: 14th)
Teaching Quality - 87.7 (ranking: 23rd))
Learning Resources - 75.6 (ranking: 86th)

The SES is the only comprehensive survey of current higher education students in Australia, and is managed by the Australian Government. Around 180,000 undergraduate students and 83,000 postgraduate coursework students from Australian universities and NUHEIs participate in the 2019 SES.
