Elliott Brown has been awarded a scholarship worth $22,500 to ICHM.
It is the second consecutive year that a Westminster School student has been awarded a scholarship - last year it was Fraser Bock, who is currently on a six-month internship on Hamilton Island in the Whitsundays.
Like Fraser, Elliott earned his hospitality stripes early having worked at various food and hospitality establishments over the past five years, including his parents’ winery, Gemtree Estate Wines at McLaren Vale, and most recently the iconic Star of Greece restaurant at Port Willunga.
There, his performance on the floor has won high praise from owner (and Chair, Business SA, Chamber of Commerce and Industry South Australia) Nikki Govan, who says: ‘It is rare to have someone like Elliot: dedicated, professional and mature beyond his years. I expect he will fly the coop one day, but in the meantime he is one of our brightest stars’.
Elliott joins ICHM in January to start the three - year Bachelor of Business (Hospitality Management), which gives him direct entry into the Master of International Hotel Management (Swiss Hotel Association).
Elliott’s is one of four scholarships ICHM awarded to Australian students in 2020 - two others went to South Australians and the other to a Queenslander. The winners scored highly in a written assignment and panel interview.
‘I look forward to partaking in an intensive fast-tracked university program, backed up by work experience in outstanding venues both in Australia and overseas’, Elliott says.
