New hotels for Adelaide mean the strong demand for trained workers will continue!
Earlier August it was announced that the Hyatt brand was returning to Adelaide. This is just the latest of a stream of new hotels to open in the next five years. The Australian Hotels Association say there will be 21 luxury hotels and 4000 new rooms.
For students thinking about a career in hotel management, this news could not be better. Twenty one new general managers, maybe 60-100 director-level jobs, 250 supervisory staff, and more than 2000 operating level positions, ideal for students undertaking work placements, or entry level positions.
There are 3-4 of these hotels already under construction - The SkyCity Casino’s 123 room hotel on Riverbank, Sofitel’s 257-room hotel on Currie Street, Crowne Plaza’s 326 room tower on Frome Street. ICHM graduate Ms Bodelle and her pre-opening team are already employed for the 138-room hotel at Adelaide Oval.
With a high demand from international students who are seeking a starting job in a “regional” city like Adelaide, these announcements are welcome news.
