The Hilton International Adelaide’s Ballroom was filled to capacity at this year’s Graduation Ceremony on 1 September.
The 370 guests at the celebratory dinner included family and friends of graduands, industry representatives, and ICHM’s Academic Board and College Council members, and staff.
Master of Ceremonies Derek Milligan says every facet is about making the evening a grand celebration for graduands, marking their milestone achievement.
In the week running up to the event, and on the night, he works closely with Hilton International Adelaide and its audio services and events company, Encore, to ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible.
For the first time and to to rousing applause, ICHM’s Acting Principal George Brown led robed Academic staff into the room followed by graduands.
In his Graduation Address, Dr Ueli Schneider, Head of Education, hotelleriesuisse, congratulated students on achieving an award of such high quality. He went on to mention trends sweeping the hotel industry, stressing to graduands the importance of, ‘investing in your personality, and contributing to the advancement of employers by creating exciting and enriching guest experiences’.
Fifty-nine students graduated with the Bachelor of Business (Hospitality Management), 26 with the Bachelor of International Hotel Management (Swiss Hotel Association) and three with the Associate Degree in Hospitality.
Certificates of Academic Achievement (students who received a GPA of six or above over all subjects in a semester), Certificates of Merit (the top student of each subject in a semester), and Dux (students who receive the top average mark [%] across eight subjects) were also awarded.
