Graduate Benjamin Krieg, General Manager, Novotel Bangkok Sukhumvit 20, has been appointed Area General Manager for Thailand – Midscale and Economy brands at AccorHotels.
As of May this year, he is General Manager of eight properties within Bangkok and Greater Thailand, on top of his existing property.
At ICHM from 1997- 2000, Benjamin’s placements were at Ayers Rock Resort (for a year) and Wirinna Cove Resort. In 2008 he was appointed General Manager of Ibis Sydney King Street Wharf and in 2010 General Manager at Mercure Geelong, in country Victoria both properties of AccorHotels.
A move to Asia followed, with the appointment in 2012 as General Manager Radisson Suites Bangkok Sukhumvit, with the Radisson Group (then Carlson Rezidor). In 2015 he returned to AccorHotels to head the pre-opening team as General Manager of Novotel Bangkok Sukhumvit 20.
Benjamin says as a student at ICHM he quickly aspired to the role of General Manager and aligned his career path to achieve that ambition.
‘That being said, ICHM gave me the rounding out of skills and knowledge to fast track through early positions and make those first crucial moves into management.
‘Further, I started in industry later than a number of people I worked alongside. However, ICHM was totally worth it as my career progression has been a lot faster in comparison.’
Benjamin was a member of ICHM Graduates In Industry Advisory Committee (GIIAC), 2013 - 2016, and provided valuable industry feedback to ICHM.
