‘We need experience. We need leaders of the future.’

According to Cameron Tannock, Executive Manager Human Resources, SKYCITY Darwin & Adelaide, when the super-luxury all-suite SKYCITY Adelaide opens in 2020 it will be transformative for Adelaide.

‘Our employment needs will double, up from 1000 to 2000, and for aspiring ICHM graduates this mean exciting opportunities coming down the line.’

Cameron has visited ICHM to speak to students on previous occasions and says ‘SKYCITY Adelaide will strongly consider ICHM graduates who want to join us’.

He was on campus this time with ICHM graduate Michael Neale, who recently returned home to take up the position of Food & Beverage Manager at SKYCITY Adelaide as part of the expansion team.

Michael, who graduated in 2009, says the position is the perfect match for him, and he’s moving back to make a life here.

He told students he enjoyed his time at ICHM saying, ‘with the networks you build and the skills you gain you can be confident you can go out into the industry and succeed’.

Michael says his own progression has been rapid.

He was previously Director of Food & Beverage at Resorts World Genting for two years. This property is Malaysia’s premier integrated casino and lifestyle resort, boasting more than 10,000 hotel rooms across seven full facility hotels and 60 Food and Beverage outlets.

Before that he had spent seven years with Starwood Hotels & Resorts in China, working across its Westin, Le Meridien and Sheraton brands in various Food & Beverage outlets.

With the $330 million redevelopment, SKYCITY Adelaide will move from purely gambling operations to an integrated entertainment resort incorporating restaurants, bars (including a rooftop bar), a function centre, a wellness centre and an underground car park.

SKYCITY Adelaide is very excited to be part of the $4 billion investment in Adelaide’s Riverbank Entertainment Precinct’, say Cameron Tannock. He is backed by 20 years’ experience in the Food & Beverage and Human Resources sectors of the hospitality industry, especially integrated casino resorts and remote area resort destinations.

In addition to the new building, SKYCITY Adelaide’s North Terrace heritage railway building, with its two signature restaurants, will be refurbished.
