ICHM is one of the top hotel management schools in Australia and among the top five in the world. Since start-up in 1993, more than 2500 students have passed through its doors to become work-ready young professionals who hit the ground running and go on to establish national and international careers.
A lunch for Year 4 students at Hilton Adelaide this year is indicative of ICHM’s industry focus. Last year it was the Crown Plaza. At the lunch, these ambitious final years get to be on the receiving end of a five-star guest-experience for a while and speak to the experts about exactly how it’s done.
From Europe to Asia, country South Australia to Gabon, central Africa, ICHM students at Course Commencement were from all corners of the globe. At last count, 85 countries have been represented at ICHM in the past 23 years, making Regency International House a melting pot of cultures. On Course spoke to a random sample.
Master of Ceremonies Dr George Brown welcomed new and returning students to ICHM’s 46th Course Commencement in 23 years. Never before had so many Certificates of Merit and Certificates of Academic Achievement been awarded at the one ceremony.
Induction Week kicked off with a formal welcome, which culminated in a rousing round of applause for new students. This year activities included workshop ‘firsts’—Mind Mapping and Beer Tasting and Making, along with the more traditional Adventure Day.
