Best in her year in first year, Zofia Foley is now on the industry placement of a lifetime, the tropical paradise of Bora Bora recently awarded ‘best island in the world’.
Zofia is taking diversity to a whole new level with her placements, from long-haul passenger trains across Australia’s outback in first year to the sun-drenched paradise of Bora Bora northwest of Tahiti in second year.
A Wilderness old scholar, Zofia picked up the $1000 Cameron Sykes Memorial Prize for academic achievement last year, with three Certificates of Merit. She also scored an impressive 100 per cent for her industry placement as hospitality attendant with Great Southern Rail, owner and operator of trains The Ghan (Adelaide–Darwin) and Indian Pacific (Sydney–Perth).
She hopes to undertake her next industry placement in a five-star hotel in Europe, potentially France, after studying French, Spanish and German.
‘I love the industry placement aspect of ICHM because I can put everything I learn on campus into practice in the real world in industry’, she says.
