“One Program, Two Degrees”

ICHM prepares students for management roles based on the acclaimed Swiss Hotel Association (SHA) model that stresses the importance of learning all aspects of the hotel industry. At the completion of their studies students graduate with two degrees, first the Bachelor of Business (Hospitality Management) and then the Bachelor of International Hotel Management (Swiss Hotel Association).  The first degree is “nested” inside the Bachelor of International Hotel Management; ICHM is the first institution granted permission by the SHA to offer a degree that they endorse.

Starting from an operational and basic business management perspective, the students knowledge base is built upon each year with new industry relevant concepts and business applications. By the time they complete the program they have obtained a comprehensive understanding of the international hotel environment, right through to a senior management level!

Each year at ICHM is comprised of six months full time study, followed by a six month full time industry placement throughout Australia or even overseas!  Along with the formal academic study, these industry placements play a vital role in their education as well as their career development, providing a wealth of networking opportunities. By the time they graduate, ICHM  graduates can enjoy excellent career prospects with many obtaining highly sought after positions around the world.

See the Academic Program: Study Progression and Subjects page for more information on each year and the subjects undertaken.

Orientation

Orientation sessions are held at the start of each semester to provide a friendly welcome to all new students. With students drawn from across the world, it's unusual for students to know anyone else before they arrive. The orientation sessions are held to help you get to know each other, introduce you to Adelaide, find your way around the campus, meet your teachers, and just generally settle in. ICHM also offers a free airport pick up service to all new students.

As part of the Orientation Program an "Adventure Day" is held to assist students with getting to know one another, and to start work on their team-building skills.
