5. Student Visa Application

International students intending to study at ICHM must apply for a Student Visa. Student visa requirements depend on the student’s Assessment Level. The Assessment Level is based on the student’s nationality and the course of study.

Assessment Level 1 represents the lowest assessment level and Assessment Level 5 the highest. The higher the Assessment Level, the more strict the assessment criteria. Students with Assessment Level 1 should click here to apply online and students with Assessment Levels 2, 3 or 4 should apply at an Australian Diplomatic Mission (embassy, high commission etc.) while off-shore before coming to Australia. International students studying English, Foundation or Year 12 in Australia must apply online.

Your local ICHM representative will be able to assist you in applying for your student visa. The time frame for processing student visas vary in different countries, but is usually between four and six weeks, though some students experience longer delays, Assessment Levels 3 or 4 can take more than 3 months to process Pre-Visa Assessment.

The main requirements of the student visa application are:

  • ICHM’s Letter of Offer.
  • English language proficiency as required.
  • ICHM’s Confirmation of Enrolment.
  • Proof of financial support as required.
  • Health check up (the embassy that issues your visa will advise a of approved doctors, or visit http://www.immi.gov.au/contacts/panel-doctors/index.htm for a listing).

7. Pack your bags for an experience you will never forget!

Most students don’t know anyone else when they first arrive. We suggest you relax, don’t worry, and be your friendly, outgoing self. ICHM has great orientation activities, designed especially to make you feel welcome and settle in as quickly as possible.
