International Students

International students may apply directly to ICHM Admissions office or via a local ICHM representative. ICHM representatives are able to assist you with your ICHM application, student visa application and in some cases with your travel arrangements to Australia. If you require the assistance of an agent, ICHM will be pleased to provide you with a list of our authorised representatives in your area. Please note ICHM can NOT accept an application from an unauthorised agent.

1. Application for Enrolment

View the Academic Requirements - Country Specific table to see what system and level of academic achievement applies to you. Then send your completed Application Form with all attachments to either: The ICHM Admissions Office OR your local ICHM Agent Representative. If applying directly to ICHM, please email, post, fax your application then send the original.

Note: English and ICHM Foundation Studies students

If you require a pathway program (English and/or ICHM Foundation studies) and wish to attend Eynesbury, you can submit your ICHM and Eynesbury Applications together. They will be processed at the same time and will be treated as a “packaged course” by the Australian Government for Student Visa purposes, which many students find convenient.

2. Letter of Offer

ICHM will advise you of the outcome of your application within two weeks. Students seeking RPL or credit transfers will take longer. If your application is successful, ICHM will send a Letter of Offer to you or your agent, confirming the course you have been offered, fees payable and course commencement date. If a local ICHM Representative is assisting you with your application, then the Letter of Offer will be sent directly to your representative.
To accept the offer, the New Student Fee of A$1,500* must be paid to ICHM within 21 days after issue for students from countries with Assessment Levels 1, 2 and eVisa situations OR for students studying at secondary school in Australia and AL 3, 4 students who expect to apply for an eVisa.

*Note other students from countries with Assessment Levels 3 or 4 will need to complete the Pre-Visa Assessment from an Australian Diplomatic Mission BEFORE making any payments to ICHM.

(See step 5)

5. Student Visa Application

International students intending to study at ICHM must apply for a Student Visa. Student visa requirements depend on the student’s Assessment Level. The Assessment Level is based on the student’s nationality and the course of study.

Assessment Level 1 represents the lowest assessment level and Assessment Level 5 the highest. The higher the Assessment Level, the more strict the assessment criteria. Students with Assessment Level 1 should click here to apply online and students with Assessment Levels 2, 3 or 4 should apply at an Australian Diplomatic Mission (embassy, high commission etc.) while off-shore before coming to Australia. International students studying English, Foundation or Year 12 in Australia must apply online.

Your local ICHM representative will be able to assist you in applying for your student visa. The time frame for processing student visas vary in different countries, but is usually between four and six weeks, though some students experience longer delays, Assessment Levels 3 or 4 can take more than 3 months to process Pre-Visa Assessment.

The main requirements of the student visa application are:
ICHM’s Letter of Offer.
English language proficiency as required.
ICHM’s Confirmation of Enrolment.
Proof of financial support as required.
Health check up (the embassy that issues your visa will advise a of approved doctors, or visit http://www.immi.gov.au/contacts/panel-doctors/index.htm for a listing).

6. New Student Information Pack

Approximately six weeks prior to course commencement, you will be sent an information pack outlining what you need to bring and answers to frequently asked questions, contact the Admissions Office for any further help. If you have applied through an ICHM representative, they may also hold a pre-departure information session.

New students should also advise ICHM when they will arrive at campus and if pickup is required from the airport, train or bus. A form regarding this will be included in the pack.

7. Pack your bags for an experience you will never forget!

Most students don’t know anyone else when they first arrive. We suggest you relax, don’t worry, and be your friendly, outgoing self. ICHM has great orientation activities, designed especially to make you feel welcome and settle in as quickly as possible.
