Academic Requirements - Country Specific

ICHM takes a holistic approach to student selection. In addition to meeting academic requirements, students must also demonstrate the maturity, personality and attitude appropriate for this demanding industry. Please refer to the Country Specific chart to identify which academic requirement applies to you. Not all countries or qualifications are listed on the chart; students with other qualifications should send their details for assessment.

For students applying during their final year of secondary school, please attach your previous year’s academic transcript and predicted results for your final year. ICHM can offer enrolment conditional upon the successful completion of your final year.

Please refer to the Country Specific Chart

English

International students may be required to prove English proficiency.

Note: The Australian Government Student Visa rules require IELTS English proficiency tests for applicants from country Assessment Levels 3 and 4.

The English requirements for ICHM are high. Intensive English language courses can be provided at Eynesbury or other approved English schools, for students who require additional English study prior to ICHM entry.

English Entry Requirements:

  • IELTS 6.0 (academic) not less than 5.5 in any band
  • TOEFL 550 (paper) or 213 (computer) or 80 (internet - min.18 in any band)
  • (Many students who have not yet achieved IELTS 6.0 choose to study English in Adelaide.)

Students who do not meet ICHM English requirements upon application, may be offered enrolment conditional upon successful completion of an English language course.

ICHM encourages all students whose mother tongue is not English to provide formal evidence of their English competencies with an IELTS test prior to arriving at ICHM. Where a suitable test has not been taken, ICHM reserves the right to require the student to undertake an English competency test during the first week on-campus. This test will be conducted by a qualified and accredited English as a Second Language (ESL) instructor. A fee of A$148 is charged to undertake this test. Where the student’s test results do not demonstrate the competencies of IELTS 6.0, they will be asked to transfer to an English Language Course.
