Welcome to Adelaide
ICHM is located in Adelaide, the capital city of South Australia, an attractive city of just over 1.2 million people. Adelaide is renowned as a city of restaurants, quality wine, outdoor eating and a great lifestyle an ideal place to come and learn the art of hospitality.
Students will find Adelaide safe, friendly, welcoming and easy to find their way around. Small enough to provide an ideal study environment, but when you’re not studying Adelaide offers all the usual options of cinemas, restaurants, nightlife, shopping and sightseeing to keep you entertained. As the Festival City with its world famous cultural events, Adelaide also serves up some not to be missed entertainment. And if you like water sports or just relaxing on the beach, then Adelaide’s kilometres of white sandy beaches will tempt you!

Adelaide Time
South Australia keeps Central Standard Time, which is 9.5 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time. Students from Asia will share the same approximate time zones as their families. ‘Daylight Saving’ operates between October and March, when clocks are advanced one hour, allowing residents to enjoy long, sunlit evenings.

One of our favourites is Mapo, we meet many of our friends there after class and on the week ends. We can show them Korean food. They are amazed at the variety.”
“On Saturday mornings we sometimes go to the Central Market in the city. The smell of fresh fruit and vegetables, breads, meats and poultry is wonderful and colourful too. We have noodles at Chinatown after shopping. If we go later we get all the specials after lunch and get excellent value for money. We take the bus back to campus and share the food with our friends and have a barbecue with local wine.”

“When I have free time, I like to go shopping and browsing in Rundle Mall or jogging in North Adelaide which has nice scenery. After exams I like to go and relax in the Botanic Gardens - maybe read a book or go for a walk. I recommend Adelaide as a good city to study in compared to Sydney or Melbourne. Adelaide is clean, has a low crime rate and less distractions.”
“Nightclubs are also a good choice, music varies from Latin, to Techno to R’n’B so it is quite difficult to feel bored in the evenings. Ultimately, if you do not feel like going out you are always invited to the parties taking place around campus!”
Adelaide Weather
Adelaide is fortunate to enjoy a Mediterranean style climate with warm-to-hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters.
June is the wettest month. When dressing casually, students generally find a light-to-medium weight jumper or jacket is sufficient on the coldest days.
Average day time temperatures in summer range between 25ºC and 35ºC, and in winter between 10ºC and 15ºC.
Much of the year is 20ºC to 25ºC with clear blue skies and low humidity.
